Ahead of Veterans Day this year, we want to extend our gratitude for those who have served our country in the military, whether currently in active duty or a veteran. Over the years, Gentle Giant has hired many veterans across our various regional locations, and we know how valuable their commitment to teamwork is for our company.
We believe the foundation of our company is our people – the staff members who are in customer’s homes each day – and we strive to be as supportive and caring as possible with our employees. Some Giants join us every summer to stay fit in between semesters at college, some work with us while serving part-time with the National Guard, and others are career movers. Whatever your path, we want to support you each step of the way.
Our Movers Enjoy Flexibility & Staying Fit
Our team takes pride in our flexible calendar system for movers, which means you create your own schedule and set your days of availability, depending on how many hours you’d like to work. As a mover, you will get to live an active and adventurous lifestyle, without working at a desk and instead getting some fresh air in a new location each day.
For those who love to work out and stay fit, working at Gentle Giant is an ideal career. We offer free or reimbursed gym memberships, depending on your location, and each of our warehouses contain workout equipment, so you can squeeze in a few reps before or after working on a job. You will commonly hear our staff refer to the day in the life of a mover as a “paid workout,” due to the physical nature of moving furniture each day.
Gentle Giant Movers’ Camaraderie
When veterans join the Gentle Giant family, they will experience a sense of camaraderie they may have been used to between comrades in the military. The phrase “once a Giant, always a Giant” rings true for each department of our company, as we have built a network of thousands of retired movers, each on their own journey. There are many opportunities to connect with current and former employees across backgrounds and shared experiences.
“Gentle Giant is a really easy transition (from the military) and the way the crews are set up feels similar. It is very reminiscent of the small unit leadership tactics in the military. The scheduling system is forgiving for someone who is a reservist like me” says Nicholas Morgan, a current Gentle Giant mover who was active duty with the Marine Corps, and is now a reservist.
