Being involved in community outreach is extremely important to our company and culture. In order to be sustainable, our community service activities should align with our passion and resources. For this reason, we have decided to partner with Move for Hunger. There are a nonprofit organization that collects non-perishable food items from recent moves and donates them to local food banks.
Our partnership with Move for Hunger is a great fit and gives our Giants the opportunity to help those in need while doing their daily work. The process of educating our customers about Move for Hunger will look like this:
- During the original sales call, our move consultants will mention our partnership with Move for Hunger to the customer. This means we will take any unwanted, non-perishable food items and give to a local food bank for distribution to those in need. Additionally, Gentle Giant will have special 1.5 boxes with Move for Hunger stickers that will be left at customer homes during on-sight visits for this purpose.
- During the move, each crew chief will confirm with the customer that they have been told about Move for Hunger and will collect any foods items set aside for donation. All food will be put in a box for easy transport before leaving the job. At the end of the move, Gentle Giant will take the donated food back to the appropriate warehouse, where it will be stored in a designated area.
- Approximately once per month, our Giants will deliver all collected food items to a local food bank, where they will receive a donation receipt and weight slip. There are a number of reasons why this is important, but one hope is to keep weight tallies per region for a little bit of friendly competition.
This is a great opportunity for Gentle Giant to make a big difference, and we are happy to serve alongside Move for Hunger!
