From our humble beginnings in Boston to the expansion of our award-winning moving services across the country, Gentle Giant is pleased to announce the opening of our latest regional location in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
Since 2005, our Charlotte, N.C. warehouse has brought the incredible service and client experience our customers expect of Gentle Giant to the Queen City. Given the close proximity of Fort Mill, S.C. to Charlotte combined with the number of jobs we’ve completed in the area, adding an extra branch office is a natural next step for our regional expansion.
Charlotte is currently within the top 10 fastest growing cities in the United States, with the Fort Mill area being closely tied to the growing community of Greater Charlotte. This growth, combined with the development of many areas in South Carolina, means a greater level of brand awareness through having a presence in both cities. The new warehouse in Fort Mill will allow us to be more mindful of drive times to and from jobs, benefitting both our customers and our employees as we move forward.
Our reputation as your trusted full-service moving and storage company means we’ve taken great care in the leadership of our latest location. Two of our all-star Giants currently operating out of our Charlotte moving warehouse – Andy Shaw and Joe Guns – will be taking charge in leading the opening of our Fort Mill location.
Andy Shaw began his career with Gentle Giant in 2005 in operations before taking over as a Branch Manager in our Beverly, Mass. location from Nov. 2007 until April 2019, when he decided to move to the Carolinas. He currently resides in Indian Land, S.C. and is looking forward to expanding the area of operation of our Charlotte warehouse into South Carolina. His interests include running, staying active, and playing sports with his children.
Joe Guns started at Gentle Giant in 2014 while attending college at UNC Charlotte. He met Bob Farnum and Chris Plyler, two managers from our Charlotte warehouse, at a job fair and loved the idea of an active job with a flexible schedule. Upon graduation in 2017, he decided to continue his career at Gentle Giant in a full-time capacity, and has since proven his leadership skills through advancement as a Crew Chief and Head of Training for our Charlotte office. Joe is a former baseball player turned powerlifter, competing at the Arnold Sports Festival in 2020 where he excelled in the double bodyweight squat challenge.
The commitment to excellence, athleticism, and service exhibited from both Andy and Joe made them noteworthy candidates for overseeing the opening of our Fort Mill location. Their critical thinking skills and compassion leave our customers eager for their next move with Gentle Giant.
We look forward to what is next for Gentle Giant through the opening of this new location. We welcome and encourage local talent in the area to join our team of movers and shakers, particularly current and retired athletes.
